SOLVE MY CUBE GUIDE

How to hold a 2 × 2 cube with no centres

On a 3 × 3, the centre stickers help you name the faces. A 2 × 2 has no centres. We use one corner as a reference instead.

Find one corner with three colours

Look for the single piece that has white, green and red stickers. All three must be on the same corner piece. Hold it at the top front right of the cube, with white up, green facing you and red to your right.

Only turn the whole cube in your hands for this step. You do not need to turn any layers or solve anything. The rest of the colours can stay mixed up.

Why are some tiles fixed on screen?

The solver already knows the colours of your reference corner. It fills in these three positions:

These are not centre pieces. They are three stickers on one corner. If your cube does not match them, return to the starting position before entering more colours.

Move around the cube one face at a time

Follow the instructions above the on-screen face. For the front, right, back and left faces, keep the original top face on top. The app gives separate instructions for tilting the cube to view the top and bottom.

Return to the starting position whenever an instruction asks you to. This is easier than guessing how to turn from whichever face you happen to be holding.

Before following the solution

  1. Find the white, green and red reference corner again.
  2. Put it at the top front right, with its white sticker up and its green sticker towards you.
  3. Keep the whole cube in this position while you turn the layers named on screen.

The solver uses bottom, left and back turns. These do not move the reference corner, so it stays a useful check throughout your solve.

What if the colours will not fit?

Check the face direction and your earlier entries first. Each colour appears four times, and each corner has a particular set of three colours. A corner that has been physically twisted in place can make a cube impossible to solve with normal turns.

This tool supports the standard colour scheme: white opposite yellow, green opposite blue and red opposite orange, with the reference corner arranged as described above. If your cube uses another scheme, the entry rules may not fit it.
