Solve My Cube

SMALL CUBE. ONE TURN AT A TIME.

Let’s solve your 2 × 2 cube.

Enter your colours and follow a checked solution at your own pace.

First, find your reference corner

Find the single corner with white, green and red stickers. Hold it at the top front right: white points up, green faces you and red points right. Turn the whole cube to get there. You do not need to solve a piece first.

A 2 × 2 has no centres. This corner gives us a starting point. Its three stickers are already filled in below. Follow the instructions above each face as you enter the other colours.

How to solve your 2 × 2 cube

  1. Find the corner with white, green and red stickers. Hold it at the top front right, with white up, green towards you and red to your right.
  2. Enter the colours on each face. Follow the turning instructions so the screen matches what you see.
  3. Check your cube, then ask for a solution. Return to the starting position before you make the first move.
  4. Turn one layer at a time. Compare your cube with the picture, then move to the next instruction.

No camera or account is needed. The calculation runs in your browser, and your cube colours are not uploaded to a solving service.

A little help before you start

2 × 2 questions, answered

Which 2 × 2 cubes work here?

This tool supports standard six-colour 2 × 2 cubes with white opposite yellow, green opposite blue and red opposite orange. The white, green and red corner must let you hold white up, green in front and red on the right. Picture cubes and other colour schemes are not supported.

Why are three tiles already filled in?

They belong to the reference corner you placed at the top front right. They help us keep track of which way the cube is facing. A 2 × 2 has no centre pieces. These stickers are fixed in the entry screen because of how you are holding the cube, not because a 2 × 2 has fixed centres.

Why can’t I choose a colour?

There can only be four tiles of each colour. The app also checks that your entry can form a real cube with eight different corners. If a colour is missing, undo an earlier tile or check that you are looking at the face the screen asks for.

Why do the instructions use only D, L and B?

These mean bottom, left and back. Turning those layers keeps your reference corner in place. Do not turn the whole cube between instructions. Judge clockwise as if you were looking straight at the face being turned.

Does this teach me to solve it on my own?

It helps you practise reading moves and following a solution. The first release solves the whole cube. It does not yet include a separate first-layer lesson for the 2 × 2.

What happens if I refresh or choose another solver?

Your current cube entry and progress will be lost. Finish your solve before leaving this page, or be ready to enter the colours again.
